O lugar que ocupa Manuel Móra na cartofilia brasileira é, sem dúvida, de singular importância no contexto geral dos temas que a compõem. Em 1934, Móra, que já havia realizado alguns desenhos especialmente para cartões-postais, concebeu uma série de 8 cartões coloridos para o Departamento de Turismo da Municipalidade do Rio de Janeiro, então Distrito Federal que o tornaria reconhecidamente nosso único grande ilustrador de postais. O conjunto de bandeiras e figuras femininas, laureando os turistas, homenageando os laços do Brasil com a Argentina, os Estados Unidos, a França, a Alemanha, a Itália, a Inglaterra, a Espanha e Portugal é hoje apreciado e cobiçado por todos os colecionadores e apreciadores do belo, e documentam para sempre o estilo do notável artista. Manuel Móra nasceu em Portugal a 19 de março de 1884. Pintor ativo no Rio naturalizado brasileiro, desde o início dos anos 20, fez ilustrações para numerosas capas de revistas nacionais como Para Todos, Cinearte e O Cruzeiro. Para o Parc Royal dedicou grande parte de sua vida e muitas de suas belas criações, até o incêndio do Magazine em 1943 - fato que talvez justifique o desaparecimento dos originais da maioria de suas ilustrações. Durante o período do Estado Novo, implantado por Getúlio Vargas, em 1937, Móra colaborou com o DIP (Departamento de Imprensa e Propaganda). Seus desenhos foram, também, admirados nos convites dos famosos bailes de Carnaval do Teatro Municipal, do Rio de Janeiro. Vítima de tuberculose pulmonar, faleceu no Rio, em 1° de abril de 1956.

The set of flags and female figures, the tourists winner, honoring the bonds of Brazil with Argentina, the United States, France, Germany, Italy, England, Spain and Portugal is today appreciated and coveted by all collectors and lovers of the beautiful, documenting and forever the style of the remarkable artist. Manuel Mora was born in Portugal in March 19, 1884. Painter active in Rio naturalized Brazilian, since the early 20s, did illustrations for magazines covers of numerous national and For All, and Cinearte The Cruise. For the Royal Parc devoted much of his life and many of his beautiful creations, to the fire of the Magazine in 1943 - a fact that might justify the disappearance of most of their original illustrations.
