ATORES FRANCESES

        Os escritores do Teatro Francês do século XIX tiveram particularmente notáveis intérpretes contemporâneos para representar suas obras; atores de extraordinário porte, talento e dicção que deram alma e vida a personagens predestinados ou não a serem longamente glorificados; atores franceses que se afirmaram ao correr de décadas, criando, recriando e consagrando papéis, fazendo-os figurar temporariamente ou para sempre entre os mais importantes das peças teatrais do repertório mundial.
        Amados na França e admirados em toda a Europa, muitos dessa pleiade de artistas foram aplaudidos no Brasil. Andre Antoine, o fundador do Theatre Libre, apresentou-se no Teatro Lírico do Rio de Janeiro em 1903.
        Constant Coquelin, dito Coquelin aine, irmão de Ernest Coquelin (Coquelin cadet), veio pela primeira vez ao Brasil em 1888, retornando em 1890, em 1905, com seu filho Jean Coquelin, e em 1907, Maurice De Feraudy apresentou-se no Teatro Lírico do Rio e no Teatro Politeama de São Paulo em 1908, ressurgindo no Brasil em 1929. Lucien Guitry, pai de Sacha Guitry, estreou no Teatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro em 1911, inaugurando com Henriette Roggers a temporada. Retornou em 1912, com Jeanne Provost e em 1916, com Madeleine Celiat. André Brule assinalou sua estréia no Municipal em 1914, com Suzanne Mieris, as vésperas da Primeira Guerra Mundial. Voltou em 1917, com Regina Badet, em 1918, com Suzanne Delve e em 1930, com sua esposa Madeleine Lely. Entre outros famosos atores franceses que se apresentaram no Teatro Municipal tivemos ainda Victor Boucher (1910 e 1929), Felix Huguenet (1913, 1915 e 1920) e Pierre Magnier (1923, 1933 e 1935).
Da coleção, destacamos um cartão-postal do grande Mounet-Sully, autografado em Paris, em 1904.

FRENCH ACTORS

        The French theatre authors of the XIX th. Century had particulary outstanding contemporary interpreters to act in their plays; they were actors with extraordinary bearing, talent and diction who gave life and soul to characters who were destined, or not, to be enduringly glorified; French actors who asserted themselves throughout the decades creating, recreating and consecrating parts, placing them temporalily or eternally among the most important plays of world theatre repertoire.
        Beloved in France and admired throughout Europe, this pleiad of actors was applauded in Brazil. André Antoine, founder of the Theatre Libre performed at the Lyric Theatre of Rio de Janeiro, in 1903. Constant Coquelin, a k a Coquelin aine, a brother of Ernest Coquelin (Coquelin cadet), came to Brazil in 1888 for the first time, having returned in 1890 and 1905 with his son Jean Coquelin and once again in 1907. Maurice de Feraudy performed at the Lyric Theatre of Rio, at the Politeama Theatre in São Paulo in 1908, returning once again in 1929. Lucien Guitry, Sacha Guitry's father, made his debut at the Municipal Theatre in Rio de Janeiro, in 1911 inaugurating that year's season having Henriette Roggers at his side. He returned in 1912 with Jeanne Provost and in 1916 with Madeleine Celiat. André Brule marked his first appearance at the Municipal Theatre in 1914 beside Suzanne Mieris at the brink of the first World War.         From this collecion we have set apport a postcard of the great Mounet-Sully, autographed in Paris in 1904.
