Suave,
elegante e refinada, Liane de Pougy extasiava toda Paris com sua notoria
rivalidade com Caroline Otero, que gerou longos e verdadeiros duelos de
beleza, jóias, carruagens e amantes entre as duas dançarinas.
Breta, nascida Anne Marie
Chassaigne em 1869, sua estréia no Folies-Bergere em 1894 foi um
semi-fracasso, mas apenas precederia anos de muito sucesso no Olympia
e no Casino de Paris. Admiradora inveterada de colares fabulosos e jóias
exclusivas de René Lalique, Liane de Pougy as recebia como tributo
com suas ligeiras ligações amorosas, ornando faustosamente
seus decotes vertiginosos.
Em 1919, longe das ininterruptas
atenções da popularidade e casada há nove anos com
um aristocrata romeno, o Príncipe Georges Ghika, Liane de Pougy
iniciaria, então, sua auto-biografia denominada "Mês
Cahiers Bleues". Viúva desde 1945 e cada vez mais inclinada
a resignação e a caridade, faleceu em Lausanne, Suíça,
em 1950.

Gentle,
elegant and refined woman, Liane de Pougy rendered all of Paris extactic
with her notorious rivalry with Caroline Otero, a rivalry that gave rise
on longe and true duels of beauty, jewelry, carriages and lovers between
her two dancers.
Born Anne Marie Chassaigne,
in Brittany in 1869, her début at the Folies-Bergere was a partial
failure that only preceded her enormous sucess at the Olympia and the
Casino de Paris. An inveterate admirer of fabulous necklaces and exclusive
jewels by Rene Lalique, Liane de Pougy received them as a tribute to her
fickle love affairs, and decorated with them her plunging neckline.
In 1919, far from the
ininterrupted attentions brought by popularity, and married for nine years
to a Romanian aristocrat, Prince Georges Ghika, Liane de Pougy would then
begin writting her autobiography intitled "Mês Cahiers Bleus".
A widow since 1945 and more inclined towards resignation and charity,
she died in Lausanne, Switzerland, in 1950.
